Aventura Dog Walker   by Lux Pet Sitting

Today's visit to an assisted living facility in Aventura has prompted me to write this post. Although as a pet sitter Aventura affords me the great pleasure of interacting with Aventura residents and their pets on a daily basis, today was a really special day:. In visiting one of Aventura's assisted living facilities I was so happy to find so many elderlies still clinging to the love, the warmth and companionship that pets so willingly share with us. As I was very happy to learn, many of this assisted facility's residents have dogs and cats and I was these pets participating alongside their owners in the daily activities that are organized by the facility

I saw how as I explained to my client, an elderly woman whom I was meeting for the first time, that from now on I would walk her pet, she softly explained to me that 'she was handling that herself and didn't need me'. The reality is that she can only take the little dog out for a walk 4 to 5 minutes before her legs and knees start to give in and the pain forces her to go back home before the little dog has even a chance to finish her walk.

However, I could see in her eyes and her response how attached my client is to the bonding and companionship her pet provides in spite of her physical limitations. And then she added: "you know, walking my dog also gets me out". And, at that moment, I also realized my client's lust for life and her desire to feel healthy, active, alive.

It is on days like this that I so appreciate the blessings that our pet companions provide and I realize how blessed are those that choose to bring a pet into their lives. My client will continue to go on short walks with her pet companion... I'll just be giving her a little extra help. Being an Aventura dog walker .... a blessing indeed.
